Oh Edinburgh, I do love you. I particularly like you when it’s sunny and main concern for the afternoon is tea, cocktails and a catchup.
Last Tuesday I crossed item 83 of my 101 list. Iain, a work friend and I agreed to meet up at The Hotel Missoni on the royal mile for a spot of afternoon tea. Iain and I met on our internship last summer, and are far too similar! Eg expensive designer tastes with a student budget and a slight passion for the technology world. It’s fair to say we will be keeping each other sane in the next 2.5 years on the graduate scheme, with plenty of coffee catchups and afternoon teas.
Hotel Missoni had recently launched their spring/summer tea menu and I was not disappointed.
We started with cocktails. A gin conconction for Iain and a Key Lime cocktail for me. A twist on the pie, with vanilla vodka, lime juice and pineapple juice.
Cucumber is one food that I do not like. At all. For no real reason, I just don’t like it! However, I was pleasantly and happily surprised to find that I loved cucumber water. It was a change from lemon or lime in water and gave the water a calming taste. Going to make some for my upcoming exams.
The food as expected was amazing. A 3 tier platter with sandwiches, scones and desserts.
Washed down with copious amounts of tea.
To finish we were presented with (non alcoholic) pina colada ice lollies which were lovely!
The Missoni print was scattered throughout the hotel.
When I visited the toilets, I thought I had gone somewhat crazy. The circular mirror with lights gave me crazy eyes!
After tea, Iain and I walked over to the Balmoral Hotel for another cocktail.
Despite just having had tea, we had no issue finishing the popcorn and almonds.
We both had champagne cocktails which was the perfect way to end our afternoon!
