I’ve not been this excited about a book debut, since my Harry Potter days. As a kid from the 5th book onwards I used to queue to get my hands on the latest and greatest release and would lock myself away in my room until the book was finished. Fast forward a couple of years and with the book on pre-order, I just woke up to Go Set a Watchman being on my kindle. Bliss.
Wow, what a book. Despite all the controversy surrounding the release of the book; after Harper had stated for years that no other books would be published. Allegedly, this book is actually a first draft of To Kill a Mockingbird. I loved the book, for it’s honesty surrounding segregation in the deep South. I loved that Jean described herself as colour blind; not in the sense of red or green but of skin colour. I will definitely be re-reading To Kill a Mockingbird with fresh eyes. Whilst the reviews of the book have been mixed; I thought it was a brilliant novel.
Has anyone else read it?
