My love of baking and The Great British Bake-Off is no secret. I don’t know why I love the show so much, but I do and so does pretty much all of the UK. My favourite bakery, The Butterscotch Bakery posted on facebook about the local Glasgow Baking Club and how they were having an evening at the bakery where everybody brings there own bake. The catch being the bake had to be a Mary or Paul recipe. Having tried various meetups and events since moving to Glasgow, with various degrees of success, I decided this was definitely up my street.
I wasn’t wrong. Put a bunch of bakers in the room, start talking about GBBO and the 2 hours flew by. I baked a banana loaf seen in Mary Berry’s Baking Bible and it was delicious. Lovely and simple to bake, although, I don’t have the correct sized tin so the loaf exploded a bit. There was plenty of breads on offer, Paul would have been proud. My personal favourite was the poppy seed biscuits, similar to this recipe. Added that recipe to my ever-growing to-bake list.
