For the last week, I’ve had various friends staying and visiting Glasgow. So the next few weeks worth of posts will be my staycation in Glasgow. My favourite bit has to be the NextBikes in Glasgow. Basically like the blue borris bikes in London, but prettier as they are pink and a bit cheaper! The concept is simple, download an app, give your debit details, find a bike, and off you pedal!
The bikes have a sort of basket in the front which I was just about able to add my longchamp to, with a bit of jikery pokery.
On Sunday, I decided I wanted to cycle to Loch Lomond (18 miles from my flat), but the weather wasn’t playing ball. On and off rain. Yay for summers in Scotland. The route is No7 on the National Cycling Route and is really well sign posted, although, most of the cyclists on the path have helmets and proper road bikes!
The path meanders in and out of the Clyde canal.
We got to Dumbarton which isn’t too bad! Will aim for Loch Lomond next time.
The fact I can match my converse with the sign makes me a little too happy! Having not ridden a bike for a good number of years, my steering was slightly off to begin with but you get there. I’m used to spinning where your feet are strapped into the pedals, so I loved being able to take my feet off the pedals…. I mainly stuck to the cycle routes or the Clyde paths, avoiding main roads as you don’t get supplied with helmets.
