Penny Black’s Scottish Tea

Penny Black Tea Event

My blog is called Coffee and Confetti, but I have a confession, I like tea too! I tend to drink a peppermint or chamomile tea before bed to try and relax, where as coffee is my preferred hot drink. June in Glasgow revolves around the West End Festival, a series of events ranging from a full parade day to open-days in some of the museums and free talks. Penny Black is a post-office/cafe on Great Western Road. So you can queue to post that annoyingly bulky item, whilst sipping on a decent brew.

Last week, Penny Black hosted a tea event with the wee tea company. Admittedly not knowing anything about tea, I definitely learnt a lot. We smelt the various tea-leaves which were surprisingly fragrant and tasted a range of teas.

Green tea with mint-chocolate. This smelt incredible, I would use this just as a potpourri.

The best bit, early grey tea which had been infused in a tea pot with gin for an hour. Then topped up with some tonic, so simple and refreshing. A caffeinated and refreshing take on Pimms.
