If we were to talk about classic cocktails, the gimlet would be up there. This is the Glasgow twist, the Glaswegin Gimlet.
As with a lot of things, KISS, keep it simple stupid. A Glaswegin Gilmet is no different. The key is in the amount of ice in the shaker and pre-chilling the glass.
For this you will need:
- 2 shots of Glaswegin
- 1/2 shot of lime cordial
- Juice of 1 lime
Shake this drink well. You want the shaker to be ice cold! Take the martini glass out of the fridge as late as you possibly can. Strain over the glass, add a wedge of lime to serve.
The Glaswegin Gimlet is the perfect summer cocktail, cold and refreshing. Does not require a lot of time or ingredients, limes can easily be picked up on the way home! As lime cordial and gin are always in my cupboard. I might also make the sugared limes for garnish as seen in the G&T cake.
Vodka gimlets are also popular, so I will give that a try one Friday soon.
