Martini Madness

What’s better than one martini? Two martinis obviously. In my humble opinion the best two types of martinis, espresso and pornstar or passionfruit if we are keeping it more PG. An espresso martini has the best of both worlds, coffee and vodka. A pornstar martini is an instagram classic. Life long question what  do you do with the shot of prosecco? Note, I opted not to have the prosecco, as shockingly I had none open or cold!

One thing that martinis definitely demand is the correct glassware. As part of my rapidly growing collection, I bought these LSA Mother of Pearl glasses. I love the effect of the mother of pearl and how the light bounces off it. Almost with a halo-like effect.

Another Boston Shaker, ice and shake recipe.

Shake until the shaker becomes ice cold. Then sieve and strain into a martini glass.

Decorate with the remaining half of the passion fruit. If you have some, it’s usually served with a shot of prosecco on the side.

Espresso Martini

For this you will, unsurprisingly need some coffee.  Whether it’s a freshly brewed espresso shot, or what I did which was to make a very strong filter coffee.

Ingredients:

  • 2 shots of vodka
  • 1 shot of Kahlua
  • 1 shot of sugar syrup
  • 1 shot of coffee
  • Coffee beans for decoration

You will definitely be starting to notice a trend of just how much sugar is in cocktails. Making the sugar syrup a great investment.

As you probably have already guessed, add ingredients to a shaker with ice. Shake, shake, shake. Strain and pour. If you have shaked the martini enough you will be left with delicious coffee foam.

Credit where credit is due. I never realised how hard it was to artistically place the coffee beans on the drink! Ended up using a tiny pair of tweezers to place the beans. In future I might also try a light dusting of coco powder.
