Over the weekend I attended a Times Like These Gin Festival, having seen a deal for it on itison. I had no idea how formal/informal the event was going to be and what exactly it would entail, apart from drinking gin.
We got to taste 6 gins in 3 hours:
Botanist and Rock Rose are personal favourites anyway with a bottle of one always in my flat. My brother is a bit of a Gin Whiz Kid so he had introduced me to them. I also really enjoyed the NB Gin and the Pickering.
The event took place in Trades Hall of Glasgow which is a stunning building, built in 1791-1794 that was used for buying and selling trades, from Gardeners to Bakers. The building had some amazing chandeliers and a lot of character.
The tasting was very informal and very much an enjoy yourself event. On arrival the NB gin was already in the drinking cup, with each other gin in a minature bottle. You made your own G&Ts, with garnish – lime, grapefruit or chili as desired.
