Beef, rolled in mushrooms and surrounded by pastry. One of my ultimate dinner party recipes. Mum and I made this using Good Housekeeping’s recipe on New Year’s Eve. This recipe can be pre-prepared so all you have to do is put the beef in the oven when your guests turn up!

Firstly, brown the beef, then place in the oven.

Fry some onions and mushrooms, with plenty of butter.

Mix half of the mushroom and onion mixture with the pâté.

Spoon the pâté on-top of the beef.

Roll out the pastry.

Place the beef pâté side down on the pastry, then add the remaining onion and mushroom mixture.
