I have fallen more in love with Gordon St Coffee, there masterclass was a lovely evening and a great way to get to know the staff better. The evening started with a lesson in all things coffee, from how they are grown to how they are roasted and everything in between!
John the roaster, is not as scary as he looks in this photo! Warning: when the roaster is on, it gets very very warm upstairs! By the end of the evening the place was like a warm cuddle, that smelt of coffee.
Coffee beans pre-roast are actually green. They also change considerably in size during the roast.
Once roasted for 14 minutes, the beans are cooled for at least 4 minutes. The smell at this point is amazing, would love to have an alarm clock that burst with coffee smell when it was time to get up.
We were treated to some biscuits, cakes and marshmallows.
This coffee shop is pinterest perfect, the Christmas decorations are stocking made out of the coffee bags.
The evening finished with a lesson in cupping and how to taste the flavours in coffee.
I took home a lovely bag of the Dark Guatemalan roast to enjoy this weekend.
