August was another odd running month. I did a lot of runs in total, 33. Some days had up to 3 a day, I was here there and everywhere catching up with friends. So although I did a lot of runs, and totalled 117 miles, no run was over 10 miles.
I was also taking part in the 22 pushup challenge, 22 pushups for 22 days to raise awareness for veterans’ mental health and PTSD. As someone who suffers with depression and anxiety, any cause which highlights the issue is amazing. My pushups did improve… slightly.
With everything being a bit hectic for me, I found I had to prepare a lot. So that did include laying my kit out the night before and pretending it was race day… Does anyone else still do this, as if they were getting ready for school?
I did take part in my first ever trail run, in Balmaha in Loch Lomond. 5 miles out, 5 miles in and with some amazing scenery. Scotland does have the most gorgeous views when the weather wants to cooperate.
One weekend in August had a double race, a 5miler followed by a 10k. I’m pretty much convinced I only get unattractive race photos.
The Paisley 10K was great fun, although I almost managed to not be allowed to go as Twitch quite liked my shoelaces.
This was the last 500m downhill..
Which luckily lead to a pb of 46:58. Amazing what your body can do. I hadn’t been feeling fit or my best, in terms of training runs and struggling to keep my mile splits down!
This running route through Mersea in Essex was pretty amazing as well!
I’ve got the Disney half marathon at the end of September, which I’m buzzing for. Well done if you get the reference.
