We have all seen those pinterest perfect pictures of cozy blankets, a mug of steaming coffee, candles and a good book. Introducing the perfectly wonderful world of Hygge, a Danish concept/lifestyle that gives the Danish people their happiness country in the planet status.
I picked up The Little Book of Hygge in a bid to understand the culture more, whilst adding Denmark to my bucket list of places to visit. I then fully embracced Hygge, new pyjamas, hot cups of peppermint tea at night and an actual book. Not my kindle, but an actual book.
Chapter 1 of The Little Book mentions candles, candles, candles. Not scented candles, just plain good old tealights.
My life hack? Buy some Gu Pots. Eat Gu Pots. Wash. Instant tealight holder.
The view of the Clyde from my flat calms me. Beyond belief. In winter, the view is not quite the same. Adding fairy lights which are on a timer for when I get in from work add instant light to the room.
Hygge is also about hearty meals, the book is filled with recipes. I am not the best at enjoying cooking when it’s just me. But this lentil rattaouile with cauliflower rice was tasty.
Any other ways that you embrace hygge? Asked whilst wrapped in a blanket, with slippers and candles on!
