Call me a princess, but my room in my parents house comes complete with a tiny nook which fits a chair, space for all my makeup and a mirror with the best lighting ever. I took plenty of time sorting all the makeup I brought home with me to make use of the space! What I did bring with me, is my makeup must haves. Yes it is essential to bring home 6 different lipsticks and all the brushes ever! Oh how I wish I had this space growing up or in my flat down in Glasgow. My Mum even pointed out she could close me in the cupboard quite happily and I’d still be able to do my face!
All of my makeup must haves below are products I reach for everyday, some have featured on the blog before. Other bits are more recent additions to my kit. Whilst getting ready for Christmas Day dinner I decided to do a timelapse of me doing my makeup. If only on a day to day basis I could do my makeup in 1 minute flat.
Clarins Beauty Flash Balm is one holy grail product that lives up to its hype. I use the balm as either a mask or a primer. Mum, if you are reading this, I promise I brought this from Glasgow and did not pinch yours. The Touche Eclat Blur primer came as part of a set with the concealer and I love it! As much because the glitter flecks throughout are great for winter/Christmas makeup. You can never ever have enough glitter, especially at this time of year!
Lately, I have been mixing these two foundations together and have been loving the results. The Chanel Perfection Lumiere foundation is great for how long wearing it is, whilst the YSL foundation is great for buildable coverage! I also love that you can see just how much product is available in the YSL foundation, no bare face at work when you run out.
It doesn’t matter how much I sleep I get, I seemingly always have bags under my eyes. I am now onto my second wand of NARS creamy concealer which shows how much I love the coverage it offers. The new concealer in my makeup kit is the YSL Touche Eclat concealer which really does brighten your face.
My love for a strong brow has grown over the years, this was very much inspired by an old flatmate who never left the house without her brows on! I use a mix of products, starting with the Chanel eyebrow pencil to shape, admittedly my favourite bit about the pencil is the spooly on one end of the pencil. I then use a very old MAC 266 brush and mix some HD Brow Wax with the pebble shade of Tanya Burr’s Perfect Brow kit. The fairy cake shade is also great to use as a highlight for under the brow bone or as a soft eyeshadow.
In the above time-lapse, I used two eyeshadow products, the Urban Decay palette and a Chanel Eyeshadow. The Chanel eyeshadow is a new love, although you do have to mix the product a lot to apply. The Urban Decay Naked 2 palette is very much one of my makeup must haves. I have had this palette for years, being used for nights out, to cheerleading competitions and everything in between. My most used shades are Half Baked, Bootycall, Chopper, Verve and YDK. Notice that those shades tend to be the more shimmery or glittery ones in the palette, which isn’t really a surprise at all!
