A seriously thought provoking book by Ian McEwan. It’s human nature to spend time thinking of the actions you took and the effect they’ve had on both you personally and others. The book follows a high court judge, Fiona who deals with high publicity children’s cases regarding paternity rights, the right to life and surgeries. She struggles to cope with the effects of her decisions and the book explores the effect this causes. I had never considered the outlook of working in law and affecting someone else’s life so much and how this would play on your mind.
Fiona is not the most common name, so it was odd whenever I read the name in the book!
