Overnights oats are great, all the prep is done the night before. You can roll out of bed, grab the oats from the fridge, and get back into bed with your breakfast.
My basic recipe is to add the following:
- 4 large tablespoons of greek yoghurt
- 1 scoop of oats
- 1/2 scoop of flax seeds
- 2 teaspoons of chia seeds
- Some apple juice
- Handful of frozen fruit – strawberries, raspberries, mango or whatever takes your fancy
Simply mix the above into a bowl and you have a sort of cold porridge/bircher museli/overnight oats breakfast dish. The oats will soften overnight and the apple juice will add sweetness, the frozen fruit also defrosts. Takes about 3 minutes to prep the night before and saves a lot of hassle the next morning!
I sometimes add chocolate chips or some honey the next morning. Alternative suggestions are to add some banana the next morning, or some scoops of whey protein, or passion fruit.
