Things I love, cake, tea/coffee, bubbles, scones and having no cares in the world. Last weekend I took my Mum out for a belated birthday present, to One Square in Edinburgh for Afternoon Tea. The Scotland vs Ireland match was on, which only added to the buzz about Edinburgh. You couldn’t help but giggle when overhearing shouting from the bar, when one team or another scored a try.
The afternoon tea itself was one of the best I’ve ever had. I loved the sand timers used to work out how long to brew your tea for!
My Mum and I have realised we have quite a few different variations of the below in different places, hotels, airports! Can’t beat bubbles and a girly catch up though? Side note, my Mum and I have virtually the same watch. I just have the more modern version, whilst her’s has survived 20+ years!
Before the stand turned up we were given the below mousse and tuile. We tasted it, enjoyed it, but could not figure out what exactly it was. Turns out it was parsnip with curry oil as a mousse, with white chocolate shavings. Sounds odd but was definitely yummy!
The stand was literally full, the scones were brought after! Personal favourites had to be the roast beef sandwich, the macaron and the fruit tart.
Yes, you got 3 scones each! I honestly struggled to finish everything. Luckily, my Dad turned up later (post rugby), to steal some bits of cake. I’ll let him off though, if you are a Starwood Preferred Guest, you get 15% off the bill. So Dad you are publicly forgiven for stealing a bit of macaron, since you got me a discount!
