Marcothon 2017

Marcothon. No, I have not mispelt marathon, marcothon is a thing. It’s a collection of people who decide it’s a great idea to run every day in December. Except their is no medal, no race day feeling, no nothing. Just you against you, running every day in December. All 31 days, yes that includes Christmas. The rules are simple, run for 25 minutes or a 5km(3.11 mile) distance every day. That’s it. Nothing fancy, just 25 minutes a day.

There is a Marcothon Facebook event and Strava group for anyone else who wants to join.

I did Marcothon last year and loved it. A mixture of really early runs, or runs that were after one or two drinks, which seemingly numbed the cold! The most hilarious being Christmas morning. I had drank a coffee and a buck’s fizz (it’s Christmas after all), then got a lift into town from brother who was working. I was then running home. Let’s just say I really needed to pee, but nowhere was open!  It was a rather quick 4 miles home.

I love my marcothon T-shirt which I ordered last year. I am excited to wear it again this year and explain the meaning of the word to others. The glitzy Nike Pro tights have been sitting in my closet for a month. I promised myself there first outing would be today.

These tights are the dream. So glittery and sparkley and the exact motivation for the Christmas period!

Marcothon Day 1 done. Ran 4 miles at 6:25ish this morning. Here’s the Strava evidence and photos to prove it! Let’s just say it was rather cold this morning and I am glad the tights were warm.
